Love and Horror

by Sonia Gomez

Poetry

I am in love with 's poetry and highly recommended her books, and . Her poems explore  intimacy, race/ethnicity, and politics from the perspective of a self-proclaimed "fat, fly, and brown" poet. For more on her poetry, activism, and other work, check out her .

TV

(HBO) is a year old, but if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it even if you are not a fan of H.P. Lovecraft's fiction (I am not) or have not read any of his works (I have not). The series isn't perfect but it offers a lot to unpack around issues of race, gender, sexuality, and war with a historical perspective. Be warned there is a lot of horror both real and imagined.
